Old Lanwarnick

Frequently asked Questions

The cottages are cleaned, made up and ready for you to check in from 4pm on your arrival day. If your cottage can be made ready any earlier, we will let you know.

If you arrive early, you’re very welcome to explore the gardens and woods. Why not stretch your legs after the long drive and check out our Woodland Walk for some nature bathing the moment you arrive? Or you can check out our local area guide and enjoy some bonus holiday time together.

If you think you’ll be arriving late, just let us know and we can switch the lamps on and make sure the cottage is all cosy and ready for you.

Check-out is by 10am on the day of your departure. This gives us time to get the cottage ready for our next guests. If you can stay later, we will let you know.

Once you get on site, you’ll find all the cottages are well signposted and easy to find. And we always leave the key in the front door of your cottage so you can get straight in.

Our guests never believe us when we tell them this – but it’s true. It just shows how safe, secluded and friendly the area around Old Lanwarnick is.

We’ll also come to meet you as you arrive to introduce ourselves and make sure everything is okay. Then once we’ve answered any questions you might have, we’ll leave you to settle in, enjoy your welcome hampers, and make yourselves at home.

We live on site, just beyond the cottages – far enough away that you won’t feel overlooked, but close enough that we can be on hand to answer any questions you might have for us during your stay.

You’ll also have access to our TouchStay Guide – a live, regularly updated document containing tons of useful information in case you need it during your stay. It includes everything from things to do in the local area, to house rules and even details of local vets – though hopefully you won’t need them.

And if you find you’ve forgotten something, that’s no problem at all. We have travel cots, high chairs, bed guards, plastic tableware and more for little ones, and dog leads, beds and crates of all sizes you can borrow.

Apart from a small charge for dogs to cover cleaning costs, and the Electric Vehicle Charging which you pay for via the Charge Assist app, everything is included in the price you see for each cottage.

We even include a welcome hamper in your cottage for when you arrive containing milk, butter, bread and cake from local bakeries and farms, and eggs laid by our very own hens. Dogs get a welcome pack too, with a towel to dry off after a muddy walk, a blanket to lie on for the sofa and some tasty treats to help them feel right at home. And we include all the kitchen and toiletry essentials you’ll need for the first night or two of your stay, so you can settle in from the moment you arrive.

We don’t charge for the odd glass or plate that gets damaged either, as we appreciate that accidents happen and there will always be a certain amount of wear and tear on our cottages. However, we do have to charge for major damage and breakages. So it might be worth making sure your holiday insurance or credit card coverage will cover any bigger accidents that happen while on holiday.

Although we enjoy complete peace and quiet at Old Lanwarnick tucked away at the end of our lane, our nearest pub and shops are only 5 minutes away in the village of Pelynt.

You’ll find the Pelynt Store in front of the primary school, with plenty of parking space at the front of the store. You can get all the essentials there, and O’Keeffe’s Butchers have a counter so you can pick up some local sausages and bacon for your breakfast.

The Jubilee Inn is also in Pelynt, just down the road, and serves excellent pub food and real ales. The Plough is another favourite, just 11 minutes away, and also serves locally sourced food and ale in a traditional pub setting. Both pubs will welcome your four-legged friends.

If you’re looking to do a larger shop, Quay Side Fresh, a traditional farm shop in Looe just 15 minutes away has fresh fruit and vegetables, meats and cheeses, freshly baked bread, a refillable milk station, and a huge choice of local pantry items. And Morrisons, Lidl, Sainsburys and Tesco are all within a 20-35 minute drive from Old Lanwarnick.

Everyone comes to Old Lanwarnick for the same reason – to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life while spending time with family and friends. So, while no one likes to impose rules, it’s only fair that all guests respect each other so everyone gets to enjoy the same relaxing experience on their holiday.

We, therefore, ask that guests help us by:

• Keeping noise to a minimum
• Observing our terms and conditions, especially our dog policy and hot tub rules
• Not smoking or vaping in the cottages
• Not lighting candles, fire pits, paper lanterns, or using drones as they are either a fire hazard or distressing for the livestock surrounding us, or both
• Not bringing extra guests into the cottages without written permission, for insurance and fire regulation reasons. Babies in cots that exceed the maximum number of people per cottage are allowed
• Asking for prior permission before bringing third-party suppliers on site

As increasing the sustainability of Old Lanwarnick is important to us, we also ask all our guests to help us by recycling their waste while staying with us. We provide separate recycling bins to make this easy for you.
